Caro Editions’ New York Capsule Collection: A Fashion Love Letter to NYC (2026)

New York, New York! Caro Editions unveils a capsule collection that's a love letter to the city that never sleeps. But what makes this collection so special? Let's dive in!

Launched on December 6, 2025, this collection by Caroline Bille Brahe isn't just clothing; it's a heartfelt tribute to her personal history with New York City. Having lived there for six years as a model, the city holds a special place in her heart. One of her earliest memories dates back to 2010, when she was booked for a career-defining opportunity to appear in a Nicolas Ghesquière-era Balenciaga campaign photographed by Steven Meisel.

Brahe's designs are infused with these memories. She's incorporated iconic New York imagery, like the Empire State Building and the New Yorker Hotel, onto an embroidered black cotton T-shirt. The back of a pale pink shantung coat features the Statue of Liberty holding a heart-shaped red balloon that reads CARO ❤ NYC. Even Milton Glaser’s iconic I ❤ NYC is reimagined in sequins. "I thought that it was really funny to kind of make it [have] a little bit of a touristy vibe in New York," she says, referencing the souvenir shop aesthetic.

But here's where it gets interesting... The designer's sister-in-law, jeweler Sophie Bille Brahe, opened a shop in New York last year, inspiring Caroline's designs. Caroline admires Sophie's high-low mix, which includes pairing diamonds with casual wear. This contrast is reflected in the capsule collection. Having introduced lace on daring dresses for spring, Bille Brahe layers it over denim, creating "the contrast of that really expensive material with an everyday piece." She further plays with this contrast by inserting pieces of vintage silk into the seams of jean jackets. Tweed outlines the seams on some very dashing coats. The effect, as Caroline notes, is "being fancy without being fancy."

Brahe captures the essence of New York's energy. "I love the energy—it’s always the energy of people going somewhere," she says. "Everybody has a dream of something, so everybody in New York is working really, really hard. And I actually love that, I think many countries could actually learn from that energy of working really hard and having a dream and wanting something.”

So, what do you think? Does this collection capture the spirit of New York? Do you agree with the designer's perspective on the city's energy? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
