Exciting yet complicated news surrounds the potential for Spider-Man 4, as director Sam Raimi shares his thoughts. While fans of the iconic superhero portrayed by Tobey Maguire are eager for a sequel, Raimi offers both enthusiasm and caution about the film's future, reflecting on his connection to the franchise and the current trajectory of Marvel Studios.
Raimi has openly conveyed his desire to collaborate with Tobey Maguire once again on another Spider-Man installment. At the London premiere of Send Help on January 29, 2026, he shared, "I adored him in Spider-Man: No Way Home, along with classic characters like Doc Ock and the Green Goblin, played by Alfred Molina and Willem Dafoe. I think younger audiences would appreciate seeing him back on screen" (source: Associated Press).
However, Raimi also recognized the substantial success Marvel is currently enjoying with their own interpretation of Spider-Man. He remarked, "At this moment, Marvel is thriving with their unique rendition of Spider-Man, where he interacts with the Avengers and other superheroes. It wouldn’t be sensible to disrupt that impressive momentum just to facilitate my making another Spider-Man movie."
Yet, despite his reservations, Raimi didn’t completely close the door on the possibility of Spider-Man 4. He added, "I would absolutely love to do it, and perhaps there will come a day when I can."
In a previous conversation with ScreenRant, Raimi reflected on the long-standing speculation about a Spider-Man 4 featuring Tobey Maguire. He expressed, "My passion for Spider-Man runs deep. I adore Marvel and the producers involved in creating these films." He also shared insights from his experience directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, stating that Marvel Studios is at its peak. Notably, he mentioned that both Maguire’s version of Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane have evolved beyond their past roles, concluding, "It wouldn’t feel right for me to attempt to revive my interpretation of this story."
Despite the persistent enthusiasm from fans, Sam Raimi has confirmed that he will not be stepping back into the director's chair for a fourth film in his Spider-Man series. While various collaborators have shown support for the idea, Raimi has reiterated that there are no current plans to revisit this beloved project.
