SEA Games 2025: Philippines clinches a record-breaking squad and a national medal chase
The Philippines are fielding their largest team ever for the 33rd SEA Games, held from December 9–20, 2025 in Thailand. More than 1,500 Filipino athletes will compete across Bangkok and Chonburi, representing the flag at this major multi-sport event. This edition marks a return to action in Southeast Asia’s premier games since 2023, when Cambodia hosted the Games.
The aim is clear: surpass the country’s 2023 performance, where the Philippines finished fifth in the overall standings with a total of 260 medals—58 golds, 86 silvers, and 116 bronzes.
Among the prominent athletes set to compete are Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo, Alexandra Eala, and Ernest John (EJ) Obiena, who are expected to play pivotal roles for Team Philippines.
