TDP MLA in Hot Water: Audio Clip Exposes Abuse & Alleged Mafia Tactics | Anantapur Controversy (2026)

Another day, another scandal rocking the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)! Despite Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's promises of a clean and efficient government, his own party MLAs seem to be mired in controversy at every turn. And this is the part most people miss: while Naidu publicly champions transparency, his party's grassroots leaders are facing a wave of public backlash.

Naidu hasn't shied away from addressing these issues, repeatedly bringing up complaints against TDP MLAs during cabinet and party meetings. Some have even been summoned to the party office for a stern reprimand. But here's where it gets controversial: despite these efforts, there's little evidence of any real change in behavior.

The latest scandal involves Anantapur Urban MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Prasad, whose alleged outburst against a local shop owner has gone viral. In an audio clip circulating on social media, Prasad is heard using highly abusive language during a property dispute with Sharif and Sumaya, owners of an optical shop in Sai Nagar. The couple claims they purchased the shop in 2024 and mortgaged it to a bank, only to face a dispute over alleged double registrations on the same property. When they sought help from authorities, they accused the MLA’s brother-in-law, Ashok, of influencing officials.

This incident raises a critical question: Are TDP leaders abusing their power, or is this an isolated case of personal misconduct? The public outrage was palpable, with the Communist Party of India (CPI) staging a protest in Anantapur, marching from the Ambedkar statue to the Superintendent of Police’s office. CPI leaders demanded a full investigation into Prasad’s alleged illegal activities and intimidation tactics.

CPI city secretary Sriramulu didn’t hold back, accusing Prasad of operating like a mafia boss despite lacking strong public recognition. He claimed the MLA was elected solely on the strength of voters’ trust in the TDP and Naidu, only to betray that trust through land grabbing, threats, and even encroaching on properties belonging to women leaders within his own party.

A formal complaint has been filed with SP Jagadeesh, and CPI leaders have warned of intensified protests if no action is taken. But here’s the real question: Can Naidu’s administration truly deliver on its promises of integrity and efficiency, or are these scandals a symptom of deeper systemic issues? What do you think? Is this a case of a few bad apples, or does it reflect a broader problem within the TDP? Let us know in the comments!
